This movie made me feel angry. Angry and confused. Mostly angry. The trailer led me to believe it was an entirely different movie than it was. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen and I feel ripped off, lied to, and... angry. Mostly angry. Nov 27, 2006
Its been a long time since Ive run into anything either good enough, or bad enough to offer an opinion on. Well...I finally found one bad enough. The Fountain starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz is a confusing and over pretentious piece of tripe. Filled with inexplicable New Age imagery that could only appeal to fans of Shirley MacLaine (Dancing in the Light) or Richard Matheson (What Dreams May Come). Although, thats not quite fair to Richard Matheson. At least What Dreams May Come was an visually interesting movie with a creative story and well developed characters. The Fountain, on the other hand, is its antithesis. Please, do yourself a favor. Go into the light of a theater showing a different movie. This one really sucked. Jan 30, 2007
I can\'t recommend this movie to anyone - it has a complexity that would be maddening to the casual film audience. But to anyone willing to make the effort to understand what it is trying to say and how, and if the film clicks for you and you can relate, then it is a mega-\'see now\'. This film can linger within you in a haunting kind of way. In the long run, it would not surprise me if this film were viewed as, for lack of a better word, a \"masterpiece\". Mar 17, 2008
Oh, the horror! "The Fountain" is one of the worst films I saw in the past five years. there is no redemption. I can't even figure this movie out. One guy flies while another guy turns himself into grass. It wants to be a cross between "2001:A Spance Odyssey" and "Slaughterhouse Five," and it comes up a total mess.
