Your impression of this movie will probably fall along the lines of whether or not you are a fan of the radio show by the same name.

I've never heard the radio show, and that probably limited its appeal to me. Those in the audience that were fans of the radio show absolutely loved the movie.

It had an appeal that was entertaining, but not gripping. I didn't know that Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep could sing, but the same could also be said for Lindsay Lohan. (Her overprocessed diva pop doesn't count as singing in my book. If she restarts her singing career, she would do well to put the synthesizers away and let us hear her real voice)

The highlight of the movie for me was the pair of Dusty and Lefty as they sang off-color ditties that were very funny. Woody Harrelson and John C. Reilly should be commended for making the movie worth seeing for those of us non-fans in the crowd!

If you are a fan of the radio show, I definitely think you will like this movie, based upon the comments I heard afterwards. If you are not a fan (like me), I think you will still enjoy it. Take a look at the trailer and see for yourself!

A strong contender for best movie of 2006. Dare I say it? 2006 is half over and I came upon a treasure of a movie. It will be on my top 10 list, at the top or near the top. The film is \"A Prairie Home Companion\" and it is a jewel of a movie. It is based on a radio show that can be heard on National Public Radio. That show is oine of the best reasons why I listern to National Public Radio. National Public Radio is a network that offer plenty of stuff you can listern to. \"Hearts of Space,\" \"At the Top,\" \"Performance Today\" are just some of the stuff being offered by NPR. Plus lots of classical music lots of Jazz to listern too. It\'s a lot better than the crap they offer on other radio station. Loudmouth talk shows featuring Rush L. and morning FM DJ\'s who think they know more than you. I would rather listern to NPR that the other junk thank you ver much. One show, \"A Prairie Home Companion\" is the basis on the movie directed by Robert Altman. In it, a lot of stuff is happening on stage and in the back as the show makes it farewell performance. The film is top notch with a strong cast including Meryl Streep and Lidnesy Lohren in one of her best performances in her career. This is also her sexiest performance yet. Garrison Keller is fun to listern to. Some of the regulars from the radio show also appered in the movie. Even the \"Powdermilk Biscults\" ad appered in the movie. Yum-Yum-Yum. The show is both funny and dramatic. A crew member dies while another fakes giving birth. Two Cowboy singers did a song of bad jokes that was the funniest moment in the movie. The best moment came at the end of the movie where the cast gather a the diner. All the action took place at the St. Paul theatre where most of the show was shot and also where the radio show was heard. It\'s sad that not many people are going to that movie. The film came it 7th place.It\'s very sad that a film like \"A Prairie Home Companion\" would deserved better. Many people would rather see half-baked crap like \"The Break Up\" or \"Nacho Libre\"(a film that I saw earlier in the day before \"Companion\") But this film doesn\'t need a big budget to be proven. What this film needs is a audience and I hope this review would get a few people to the theatres. The movie is \"A Prairie Home Companion\" and dare to say it and I won\'t say it again, I hate to see this film end.
