Warren Beatty directed this movie based on the comic pages detective. Beatty has been directing serious theme movies, with the exception of "Heaven Can Wait." and a few others, but in "Dick Tracy," it was light hearted fun. Beatty played the dectective who goes out to battle bad guys and he gets the girl in the end. The main villain is Big Boy Caprice played by Al Pacino. But there are other villains that Dick Tracy had to deal with. There is Flattop, itchy and Mumbles (he was played by Dustin Hoffman) Madonna played Breathless Mahoney. One of her best roles ever. But the real woman in Tracy's life is Tess Trueheart, played by Glenne Headley. Her character plays it very sweet. Watching this movie almost reminds me of watching "Batman" from the previous year of 1989. Take a comic hero and make him life-like. I had fun with the movie. You will too.
