We suggest this movie to those who have concerns related to molestation within Catholic Church. In our opinion, this movie gives an example of speculation without proof about molesting done by priests. Jan 5, 2009
A powerful movie about conflict and forgiveness.. I saw this movie over Christmas break. I choose this movie over light-weight fares like "Bedtime Stories" or Marley and Me," because I deserve better movies over the holidays. And it's worth it. John Patrick Shanley wrote and direct this movie, based on the 2004 play is brilliant and powerful. It told of a conflict in the private school between a nun and the priest over an rumor which might tear this school apart. three powerful performances from Meryl Streep, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams which hopefully will get Oscar nominations in a few weeks. One of the best movies of the hyear. I urge you to see it now. Jan 29, 2009

The trailer gave the entire movie away. Even a great cast could not save it. May 3, 2009
would have preferred the play, but this will have to do....i have no idea how doubt is supposed to bond one to anything that is strongly doubted, except by making a significant and enduring issue of it....onward....the real issue of the movie is not for me whether hoffman is or is not culpable of what he is accused of, by a nun strongly strongly predisposed against him....the entire point for me is that critical issues are often decided in the absence of certain evidence....what to do when certainty is strong and evidence is doubtful?....the answer to that certainly can not be reduced to a simplicity, and the movie sustains this moral dilemma nicely throughout.
