I don't usually recommend very violent movie, I had to make "the Last House on the Left" a rare exception. it a remake of the 1972 Wes Craven movie, which is also inspired from the 1960 Ingmar Bergman movie "The Virgin Spring." I saw "Virgin Spring" in film class, but I didn't see the 1972 version of Last House, despite all the good stuff that I heard from Roger Ebert. So until I do, I can't compare the 2009 version with the 1972 version. Not yet anyway. But this is a shocking movie. And one week earlier, I saw "Watchmen" that has some scenes of violence. It's good, but violent. You better keep that in mind before you go. I'm giving it a mild recommedition.

A lot better then I thought it would be. You can't really say its more violent, or gory then the original. The 1972 film was as violent and gory as Wes Craven could get away with at the time, this movie does the same. Its just as brutal.

And this movie has a much better villain then the original, Garret Dillahunt's Krug is better then David Hess's. The man is a very good actor, who gets better with everything he does. This movie is not for everyone, if you are a fan of the original, see the movie.
