The film that knock "Avatar" off the No 1 spot over the weekend is a phoony romantic movie titled "Dear John." this movie is terribly bad done by actors who would rather be somewhere else. the film is bvased on the novel by Nicholas Sparks who also wrote "the Notebook," another terrible romantic movie. In this movie a love story develops between two people, played by Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. Tatum's dad collects coins, wears rubber gloves and has autism. In one scene, he acted out in the back seat of the car which reminds me of Dustin Hoffman's character in "Rain Man." When Tatum went overseas, I wrote to his girlfriends. She wrote him back. then the letters stopped coming. By the time that happens, I stop caring about the people in the movie. I didn't like the movie at all. The only thing I liked is Amanda Seyfried's appeal. But can't save this movie. Richard Jenkins who won an Academy Award nomination for "The Visitor," didn't do much as Tatum's father who suffers from Autism. The entire cast is one diminsional and preety phoony. The movie is directed by Lasse Hallstorm, who directed some of the best movie of the past 15 years. "Dear John" is his worst movie as director.
