I've waited three months for this movie which is titled "Precious" to come to my area. It was released in early November, but came to my area in late December and left after a four-week run. Now because of the six oscar nominations, it came back to Kalamazoo where i finally get a chance to look at a film that I've been hearing about. And it's wroth the hype, "Precious" is a powerful movie about one girl's breaking away from her mean mother, with help from friends that she didn't know existed. Gabourey Sidible plays the title role as a 16 year old girl, who had a baby out of wedlock by her father and now she is with child again by her father. Her mother for some reason refused to blame him, but to blame her. She went to alterative education and that's where her story begans. Mo'Nique is powerfully brilliant as the mean mother who hated everything about her. Even making her even fatter by eating. Paula Patton gaives a good performance as the teacher who help her and Mariah Carey's performance will make everybody forget her performance in "Glitter." I love this movie very much. I'm glad that I got a chance to see this movie. Of the ten nominations for best picture, I saw eight of the ten with two more to go.
