The thesis that poor kids can learn is not new. If Marva Collins or "Nation at Risk" doesn't ring a bell or that our schools, in the main, are not very good, the film does a pretty good job. I found the writers a bit lazy. This documentary could have been much better had more research been done - more statistics, more international comparisons, more examples of what has been successful. I found the format, following 4 students, a little annoying. The film was at its best when we saw reading and math scores and how the complex system we have developed makes national reform almost impossible. The comments about teacher unions are fair. Globalization's impact on the job market and therefore the preparation that U.S. employees have was enlightening.

This movie is the first documentary I have seen on the big screen in over a year. Nowdays, I review the ones thgast are oin television. "Waiting For Superman" is a superb documentary on the problems of education in school. The educational system is in a mess and must be clean up. One Man Geoffreyu Canada had a hand in helpinbg poor childrenb \get the education they need. Some kids go though a lottery in order to get into very good schools. Here's my pitch; I urge everybody who doesn't watch the news to see thgis filmn. these are our children of tommorow. Thgey need to be educated. This film has oped discussion of how we must improve our failing education system. One way to do is to watch this very important movie. That's a great start.
