Roman Polanski has directed a top-notch thriller that will keep you opn the edge of your seat and leave you breathless. That movie is "The ghost Writer." A suspense thriller about a ghost writer played by Ewan McGreger, who has taken over the duties of writing the memiors on the former British Prime Minister Adam Lang. Lang is played by Pierce Brosnan. Lang has been angered by emeries who claimed that Lang supported torture. Especially turning terrorist suspects over to the CIA for torture. But as the ghostwriter dug deep into Lang's past, he learned more stuff about the Former Prime Minister. Remeber, the first ghost writer was killed off and he fear that he's next. This is a smart thriller, a real thriller that had me on the edge of seat. There can be no better movie this season, or this year than "the Ghost Writer." My shoutout goes to Olivia Williams as the wife of the Former Prime Minster. Everything works in "Ghost Writer."

A good thriller, if not a little on the plodding side of things. Ewan McGregor does a good job in his role as a ghost writer who must take on the task of finishing the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister in the midst of a political scandal.

An added wrinkle is that the previous ghost writer showed up floating up on the shore of the Cape Cod area in which the former PM has essentially secluded himself to avoid the scandal and to finish the book within the publisher's timeframe. What starts as a short job for quick money turns into a mystery that McGregor must solve, all while avoiding the fate of his predecessor.

This story is political intrigue at three-quarter speed. Given that the timeframe of the ghost writer's assignment was originally four weeks, and then shortened even further, the story takes quite a while to pick up steam, making it seem like weeks have taken place, but at one point, it is said that only a few days have passed.

If you're looking for a good mystery with some suspense thrown in, I think this will fill that task. If you're looking for something with some adrenaline, you'll need to pass this movie by until you have a little more patience. This plays great as a late-night movie that you find on HBO and take a chance on. You won't wake everyone in the house, and at the end, you'll be happy you watched it.
