The previews I had seen led me to expect a very dramatic/romantic film about a blind guy coping with recovered sight. That's what this is. I liked the film, but I don't think that the relationship between Virgil(Kilmer) and Amy (Sorvino) is developed enough. I also think that while Val Kilmer is a great actor, this is not one of his best performances. He does well as a 'sighted' Virgil, but I think his blind Virgil is too clumsy. (Maybe I am being picky.)

The entire section of the movie immediately following the regaining of Virgil's sight is very good, and caused me to empathize greatly with Virgil.

Overall, it was a good film, but not as good as I expected.

While the movie began with some rather stupid lines (which had more to do with the script than the acting), it turned into a very good movie. There were some hard truths in the movie worth contemplating. I think the movie is a study in how easy it is for someone to condescendingly try to 'help' another person without realizing that the person they're trying to help may not need or want it. This 'help' is often justified as being altruistic when in fact it is a manifestation of prejudice, even if the giver really thinks they're doing good. Very interesting movie. The relationship questions raised in this movie were also interesting. The movie did not portray a flat, Hollywood type romance (except in a couple of made for movies add-ins at the beginning), but rather a real relationship with real difficulties. Overall the movie was very good.

chick flick.... Kinda left me with the same feeling I got after reading 'Flowers for Algernon'. I go to movies o escape from reality, and this one was too close to real life to be overly enjoyable for me.

This movie delivers the right ammount of comedy and emotion that constitutes a good movie. Val Kilmer (Virgil) stars as a blind man who, through a miracle surgery process breifly regains his sight. Mira Sorvino (Amy) stars as the architect from New York who falls in love with him, and is the person responsible for helping him regain his sight. Virgil has many complications after regaining his sight, such as depth preception, color, and image recognition. After Virgil discovers he is going blind again, he and amy go to watch the one thing Virgil wanted to see, a Hockey Game. At that game, Virgil also saw and recognized a form he had felt as a child. That brought a meaning into his life, as well as added a touch of mystique. I'd go see this movie again, and I recomend you see it as well.

At First Sight was a lot more than I expected. From the previews I thought it would be a movie about a blind man, Virgil, easily getting his sight back. Instead the movie was VERY interesting. When Virgil regained his sight it was like he was still blind because everthing looked scary to him. I am not going to say anymore about that because I don't want to give away the movie. The romantic aspect of the movie was great. The way they met made it a good relationship because it wasn't based on looks. Their personalities clicked. Just the entire movie was GREAT! I would definitly go see it again. The movie gave me so many emotions. I was happy, surprised, sad, and even more throughout the movie. MAKE SURE TO GO SEE "AT FIRST SIGHT"

First of all....I didn't like it. At first sight, you would think this film has the potential of really touching the audience's heart, but instead the only thing this film impacted upon was your wallet. Val Kilmer plays a massage therapist, who has been blind since a child, but has an enhanced sense of touch. Enter Mira Sorvino who is seeking a retreat site to get away from it all and finds herself at the mercy of Val's magic touch. While re-energizing, she finds time to contact a world-renowned eye doctor who can restore Val's sight. Amazingly, all this seemed to be developed within the first 15 minutes of the film. I found the movie boring, predictable, and way to fast. I felt as though I missed something...like two hours of the film. There was very little cohesiveness in the transition between scenes and almost no character development. Sorvino was predictable and spacey, which became a lethal combination. You will be bored, you will be tired, you will be wondering when this film will end. The only person I liked in this whole movie was Nathan Lane, who played a vision-therapist. Now the film was not designed to be educational, but I felt Lane's character taught me something about blindness and sight that I didn't previously know. Bottom line...Val Kilmer looked more like he was doing a "blu-blocker" commercial rather than putting his acting skills together for what could have been a strong role.

"At First Sight" was a very refreshing movie. You don't often have a movie that makes you think as much as this one did. The only reason that I did not give this movie a "See Now!" was because it was slow at times. I think the relationship between Amy (Mira Sorvino) and Virgil (Val Kilmer) was very true and actually had some depth to it(unlike most of the movies Hollywood dishes out). The movie was based on a true story, which made it all the more interesting. The ending was kind of sudden, but overall this was a great movie. See it if you can.

"At First Sight" seemed like it would have been a good movie when my friends and I went to see it. We were wrong. For some strange reason, I should have been moved by this movie, but instead I found the movie totally annoying! It seemed endless. I remember glancing at my watch after THINKING the movie was at the 2 hour mark, but only 1 hour had elapsed. I could not stand looking at Val Kilmer's face or listen to his acting. This movie was predictable, boring and endless.
