Hard Rain is a decent piece of film making. A group of looters led by Morgan Freeman(who just wants the money-empahasis on JUST) plan to steal 3.5 million dollars from an armored car. Assigned to transport the money of the armored car is Christian Slater and his uncle. Slater's uncle is accidentially shot and Slater hides the money in the cemetary and eventually goes to the police. The first half is nothing special in fact if the movie was the same throughout as it was in the first half I probably would've walked out. The second half things get intresting and there are a few twists. Good work by Freeman, Driver, and a pretty good hero performance by Slater keep this afloat.

Has anyone noticed there have been a lot of movies about water out right now? The awesome Titanic, Sphere, and this one, Hard Rain. Hard Rain, while visually awesome, is just a terrorist actioner that is wholly stupid. I believe the script is just washed out. The terrorist regime is led by Morgan Freeman, who for the entire 97 minute length looks as if he wants to be somewhere else. He wants money from Christian Slater's armored car, holding 4 million bucks. After a little mix up, Slater is on the move through the flooded town dodging bullets. There is a great scene in a flooded school where Slater escapes the bad guys by riding a mini-watercraft. But as a whole, Hard Rain is just pathetic. It never develops a feasable plot or characters, it just dunks them into the H2O.

Grade: C-

Tech Review

Picture: 5 The whole picture is glorious in its use of blacks and red. The picture is an eye popper.

Sound: 3 I only saw a wasted Dolby print in my theater, which was rigged to play dts but didn't for some reason. The Dolby is harsh, hollowed out and thin sounding, but I bet you that the digital formats will be much better.

Photography: 4.5 Director Mikeal Salomon's Panavision photography is just great, he fills each frame with its characters and action scenes, and doesn't worry about panning it down to video later.

97 minutes. Email would be greatly appreciated at jwhyte2@hotmail.com

A town is under water and a killer is on the loose. Dare we say more? \"Hard Rain\" is raining drops of bad acting, bad script and bad everything else. It rained so much I fell as if I was watching \"Waterworld\" again. In other words, \"Hard Rain\" is worse than \"Waterworld.\"

This one is hard to recommend, but it might be worth renting if you don't have to pay full price to do so.
