I was surprised by how good this movie was. It was a very interesting plot, and the relationship between Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo was very intriguing. Jan 25, 2000
The original film has become something of a classic. This remake brings in a lot more tech, but is missing something with the characters. Faye Dunaway appears in this film as a psychiatrist who sets up a theme in the film: Thomas Crown needs to learn to trust. That trust comes up again throughout the film but really this movie is about whether he will be caught. The beginning is fun and the end is fun. The middle is boring. Jan 25, 2000
I was a bit disappointed in this film. The last half hour was good, but it was predictable. The rest of it was a bit boring. I did enjoy the scenery when they were on the island. I haven't seen many of Pierce Brosnans movies, but after this one, I would like to see more. Renee Russo was great, as usual. They really made a great couple. I was falling asleep in the middle of this movie, but because the ending was good I walked out a little happier than I thought I would. Jan 25, 2000
Travelogue-like scenery is the focus of this adventure that plays like an episode of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." We are suppose to overlook holes in the plot and instead just look at beautiful people Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. The problem with this is that there is no chemistry between the leads. This is unfortunate because the movie almost works despite its flaws. Some nifty (though predictable) twists add to the plusses and there are certainly worse choices than you can make at your local video store. But don't spend first run money on The Thomas Crown Affair. 1999's been way too good to settle for mediocrity. 10-point scale rating: 5 Jan 25, 2000
Great movie, reminded me of "To Catch a Thief" with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, although not quite as good a supporting cast. Nice to see an adult relationship instead of the normal 25 year old blonde bimbo. Jul 21, 2003
Not a bad film. The intrigue is what keeps it going. Looking for more opinions?Check out our Featured Movie Reviews for The Thomas Crown Affair. |
