In particular, AMC Theatres has introduced these showings in a partnership with the Autism Society. Here is their description of these showings on AMC's web site for Sensory Friendly Films:

AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down, so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Tuesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.

Other theater chains and independent operators also offer similar showings. Where possible, we've provided a link to the descriptions of each theater's program below.

This is just one of the many notes that a theater can add to their showtimes to inform moviegoers about the special characteristics of various showings.

To view a list of theaters that have these presentations, check out the Advanced Search tool for Sensory-Friendly Presentations!
