The Regal UA Hampton Bays in Hampton Bays, New York has closed.
Located at Montauk Highway and Springville Road, the movie theater showed its last movies January 29, 2026 after doing so for almost 30 years. According to recent news reports (see below), the building will be converted to another use after the theater's parent company Cineworld decided not to renew its lease.
The company filed for bankruptcy in September 2022 and, even though it vowed "business as usual," it has closed many locations since. At that time, it had 642 theaters. As of today, they are down to about 400.
Where to Watch Movies on the Big Screen
Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Southampton Playhouse in Southampton and the Sunset Theater in Westhampton Beach.
Theater History
According to our records, the theater originally opened December 19, 1997 as the United Artists Hampton Bays 5 Theatre. United Artists was purchased by Regal Cinemas in 2002 and formed Regal Entertainment Group by combining the two brands with Edwards Theatres.
