Palm Springs, CA: Former Regal Movie Theater Reopens Under New Management

The Regal Palm Springs in Palm Springs, California closed last month, but moviegoers in the area will be glad to know that it reopened this weekend under new management!

Located in downtown Palm Springs just east of Indan Canyon Drive along East Tahquitz Canyon Way, the movie theater closed as a Regal location on November 3, 2024. It was operated by Cineworld, which purchased Regal Entertainment Group in 2017. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2022 following the nationwide theater closures caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and has been closing many locations since. It originally opened in 1987.

It now under independent management and opened this weekend as the Festival Theater Palm Springs.

Until now, moviegoers needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs and the DPlace Entertainment - Mary Pickford Theater in Cathedral City in order to watch movies on the big screen.
