Avatar: The Way of Water is coming back to theaters later this year. The 2022 movie is the second installment of the Avatar franchise, and the re-release on October 3, 2025 precedes the third installment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, on December 19.

The Avatar movies are known for their 3D visual effects (this won an Oscar for Visual Effects), so expect to see showtimes for Avatar: The Way of Water in 3D and Avatar: The Way of Water - An IMAX 3D Experience, as well as Avatar: The Way of Water - The IMAX 2D Experience.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water tells the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington return, and they are joined by Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, and others.
