The nominations for the 84th annual Academy Awards were announced earlier today by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and actress Jennifer Lawrence, who was nominated for her work in Winter's Bone in 2010 and is starring in the upcoming action/adventure movie The Hunger Games.
Academy members from each of the branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories – actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc. In the Animated Feature Film and Foreign Language Film categories, nominations are selected by vote of multi-branch screening committees. All voting members are eligible to select the Best Picture nominees.

All active and life members of the Academy are eligible to select the winners in all categories, although in five of them – Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject and Foreign Language Film – members can vote only if they have seen all of the nominated films in those categories.
The ceremony for the Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, California. It will be televised on ABC beginning at 7pm Eastern Time (4pm Pacific Time), and will be hosted by Billy Crystal.

I saw the announcements of the 84th Annual Academy Awards on E! on tuesday morning. I noticed that the Pest Picture is nine instead of ten. Of the nine, the only one I didn't care for and that is "Extremely Loud and Incrediably Close." Right now I saw eight of the nine nominess on the Best Picture. I have yet to see "The Artist." Meryl Streep will probaby win for "The iron Lady," but I hope Michelle Williams will pull an upset for "My Week with Marilyn." I wasn't shock that "Cars 2" didn't get a nomination. I was a busy year for animated movies. The original song needs to have more than two nomiinees. I didn't like "Twlight Saga: Breaking Dawn,Part One," IBut I was hoping that the song "It will Rain" be nominated. The Best Song Catalogy is getting weaker by each passing year, making it a worthless catagory. "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" got three Oscar nomiunations. Can anyone tell me why that got so many Oscar nods and thus leaving a much better movie like "Super 8" out in the cold? I'll be watching the Academy Awards on Feb 26th. I'll be looking forward to it.
