The nominations for the 86th annual Academy Awards were announced early Thursday, January 16, 2014 by actor Chris Hemsworth and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs. Hemsworth starred in Rush and Thor: The Dark World in 2013.

I check out the nominees of the 86th Annual Academy Awards and I was a little sureprise. I was also a little shock that some of the movies that I didn't like made the list I was shock when "Bad Grandpa" and "The Lone Ranger" made the cut. I noticed the Philomena made it as Best Picture. I would rather see "Prisoners" or "Before Midnight" or "Fruitvale Station" made the cut as Best Picture. Also I didn't think "Captain Phillips" should've got Best Picture, although I love to see Tom Hanks get the nod for this movie. Another film that I didn't like was "August Osage County" where it earn Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts their undeserved Oscar nominations. For Best Actress, I'd rather see Julia Delpy for "Before Midnight" or Emma Thompson for "Saving Mr. Banks." For Best Supporting Actress I'd rather see Joey King for "White House Down" or Emma Watson for "This is the End." get the nod instead. For Best make-up, I'd rather see "The Hunger Games:Catching" rather than to see "Bad Grandpa"and "The Lone Ranger" get nods. Of the 9 nominations for Best Picture, I have yet to see "Nebraska."
