The 76th annual Golden Globe Awards were presented Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Beverly Hills, California, by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. While not as well known as the Academy Awards (Oscars), it comes first, and it's usually more fun to watch as everyone is a little more relaxed and laid back.

This year, however, the jokes and other comedy bits by hosts Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh fell pretty flat, especially when they had people with syringes offering flu shots to the people in the front section. It made the case for the Oscars to go host-free this year to see if that's the magic element that would make award shows more interesting (or at least, less frustrating) to watch. When a host is good, it's elevates the event. But when they're not, ouch!
