2023 Academy Award Nominations Announced

The nominations for the 95th Oscars were announced today, January 24, 2023, by actors Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams. It was live-streamed online and broadcast on ABC during the Good Morning America television show.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences consists of more than 10,000 members worldwide that are filmmakers, artists, and executives in the industry. Voting for each of the seventeen categories is done by the Academy members in that branch, so actors are nominating actors and directors nominate directors.The Animated Feature Film and International Feature Film categories are voted upon by "multi-branch screening committees" (according to the press release from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. All members may vote for the Best Picture nominees.

The press release mentions that voting was the highest in history and 80 countries were represented. Now that the nomination process is complete, the voting for the winners will begin March 2, 2023 and will end March 7.

The 95th Oscars will be awarded during a live ceremony Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC.
