'A Star is Born' Coming to Home Video February 19, 2019

Cover artworkWarner Bros. Home Entertainment announced recently that A Star is Born is coming to home video on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 19, 2019. Its digital streaming release will be on January 15th.

The movie, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, opened in theaters October 5th, 2018. It took the #2 spot in the Weekly Box Office report (behind Venom, and then Halloween (2018)), and stayed in the top ten for eight weeks. It has received plenty of positive reviews, and after enjoying several Golden Globe nominations, it's now in the middle of a one-week run through some IMAX theaters.

Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a country music star on the brink of decline when he discovers a talented unknown named Ally (Lady Gaga). As the two begin a passionate love affair, Jack coaxes Ally into the spotlight, catapulting her to stardom. But as Ally's career quickly eclipses his own, Jack finds it increasingly hard to handle his fading glory.

According to the press release, the releases will feature nearly ten minutes of musical performances by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga that weren't in the the theatrical release, including “Baby What You Want Me To Do,” “Midnight Special,” and “Is That Alright.” (These songs do not appear on the soundtrack albums currently available for sale)

The timing of the home video release should work out nicely with the Golden Globe awards ceremony on January 6th and the Oscar nominations announcement on January 22nd, and the awards ceremony on February 24th.

We don't have many details on the technical specifications or additional extras, but the cover art for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition does show an indication of Dolby Vision and HDR on the video side and Dolby Atmos audio being included.
