The Regal UA High Ridge in Albuquerque, New Mexico has closed. Located about nine miles east of downtown Albuquerque on the northwest corner of Tramway Blvd NE and Indian School Road NE, the eight-screen movie theater closed January 5, 2023.
According to our records, the theater originally opened April 13, 1990 as The United Artists at High Ridge. It was later known as the UA High Ridge Theatre 8 and UA High Ridge 8. Regal Cinemas acquired United Artists Theatres and Edwards Theatres in 2002 and formed Regal Entertainment Group.
Cineworld acquired Regal Entertainment Group in 2017, weathered the pandemic theater closures in 2020 and 2021, and declared bankruptcy in September 2022. Even though the company declared that it would carry on "business as usual," many Regal locations have closed since then.
Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the ICON Cinema - Albuquerque, the Regal Winrock IMAX & RPX, and the ICON Cinema - San Mateo in Albuquerque.
