The Cinema City Theatres in Anaheim, California closed May 29, 2023.

Located on La Palma Avenue and Imperial Highway, the theater originally opened May 24, 1989 as the Cinemapolis (by SoCal Cinemas). At the time of its closing, it was operated by Starlight Cinemas. The following message was posted to its Facebook page on May 26:

To Our Beloved Guests and Cinema City Community:

It is with a heavy heart and a deep appreciation for our Cinema City neighbors, friends, and families that we announce the closing of Starlight Cinema City theatres. Our last day open will be May 29th. Many memories of first dates, family outings, holidays, and moviegoing adventures were had here. On behalf of our amazing team of hard-working, movie-loving staff members, we would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to all of our guests for their years of support and for letting Cinema City be a part of the community and a part of their lives. Starlight Cinemas’ other locations will remain open for your moviegoing experiences.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Regal Yorba Linda & IMAX in Yorba Linda and the Century Stadium 25 and XD in Orange.

If you have Starlight Cinemas gift cards to use, you can visit one of the other four locations. The closest is the Starlight Theatres - West Grove Cinemas in Garden Grove.
