The AMC Dine-In Athens 12 in Athens, Georgia has closed.

Located on Lexington Road near Highway 441, the theater appears to have opened briefly this month, but the last time we received showtimes was September 9, 2020. Like most theaters around the country, it closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

We couldn't find any mention of the theater's closing, but the AMC website has the following notice posted on the page for the theater:

AMC DINE-IN Athens 12 Has Closed

According to our records, the theater originally opened April 16, 1999 as the Carmike 12 - Athens. It was renovated and reopened in 2015 as the Carmike Ovation 12. It became the AMC Dine-In Athens 12 in March 2017 after AMC acquired Carmike Cinemas.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the GTC Beechwood Dine-In in Athens and Cine Bar Cafe Cinema in Athens. The AMC Classic Bethlehem 12 is about 22 miles away, so unless you have some AMC gift cards to use, there are options that are more convenient.
