The Atlantic Moviehouse in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey has opened to the public.

Located on First Avenue within sight of Sandy Hook Bay, the theater dates back to the early 1920s. It started out as a single-screen theater, and it closed in November 2020 as the five-screen Atlantic Highlands Cinema 5.

The theater held a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, August 7, 2021.

It is being operated by residents Tony and Susanne Zertuche, who signed a two-year lease. He announced the news in a local Facebook group on June 8:

I’m proud to announce that I will be taking over the Atlantic Cinemas with a plan to reopen by the end of the month or early July. I hope that I can count on all of you in supporting our little movie house. We will only succeed with the help of the whole community and broader region. I’ll do my part with a bit of a new look, expanded film fare, private events, and maybe some fresh ideas with concessions – not all at once but as soon as I can! Stay tuned for more updates on social media and around town on upcoming fundraising events and the grand reopening. This new endeavor is very exciting (and a little scary) but, if we all get off our couches and mobile screens, we can continue to celebrate our community within the theater and beyond by connecting neighbors, strangers, and friends who enjoy and miss the shared experience of the movies.

We're hoping to get their showtimes soon. To see what's playing and when, please keep an eye on the Showtimes page for the The Atlantic Moviehouse. In the meantime, you can visit the theater's official website on the Related Sites page.

Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Bow Tie Red Bank Cinemas and the Cinemark Hazlet 12.
