The Avalon Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will be the site of a Barbie-inspired "Malibu Dream Lounge" pop-up experience from July 20-22, 2023. That's just in time for the July 21 release of Barbie, starring Margot Robbie as the title character whose world is full of pink.

An article published recently in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (visit the Read link to view the article) mentions that the event is being organized by Milwaukee-based Awkward Nerd Events, which specializes in "geek-themed" events in and around southeast Wisconsin. Having this event held in Wisconsin is fitting, since Barbara "Barbie" Millicent Roberts is from the fictional town of Willows, Wisconsin.

A special "VIP Experience" was available, which offered a premium seat of your choice, advance access to the Malibu Dream Lounge and access to the VIP Lobby Lounge, as well as a gift bag, badge, personalized pass, and raffle tickets for a basket of special items. While this "VIP Experience" is sold out, you can still see the Malibu Dream Lounge, and you don't even need a movie ticket!

Even though you could take in all the pinkness of the Malibu Dream Lounge without seeing the movie, that would be like visiting the Empire State Building and not going to the observation deck. You can find showtimes for Barbie at the Avalon Theatre and make your plans to immerse yourself in Barbie's world!
