When the Emagine Batavia in Batavia, Illinois opened to the public on June 1, 2023, the theater's premium auditorium was not yet ready for its closeup. We are happy to report that the Super EMX is now showing Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One!

The 414-seat auditorium debuted July 11, 2023 with a 2pm showing of the action/adventure movie starring Tom Cruise. Emagine proudly states that the Super EMX auditorium has the largest Cinemascope® screen in the state of Illinois. It measures over 96 feet wide and 53 feet tall, which they relate to the size of an NBA court flipped on its side. The image is provided by a 4K laser-powered projector. On the sound side of things, a Dolby Atmos sound system uses 70 channels of sound to immerse moviegoers right into the action.

The movie theater was formerly the Goodrich Randall 15 IMAX, which closed in 2020. As you can tell by the name, the theater did have an IMAX auditorium, which tends to have the largest screen at the operation. That auditiorium was retained, but rather than continue the IMAX branding, Emagine turned it into one of their premium EMX auditoriums. Instead of being content with that, though, they decided to build the larger Super EMX auditorium from scratch. We visited this location a few weeks before it opened while it was being finished, and I can verify that the EMX auditorium looks small in comparison to the Super EMX auditorium!
