The Emagine Batavia in Batavia, Illinois is now open to the public!
Located on Randall Road between Fabyan Parkway and Main Street, the luxury movie theater has been under construction for months as it transformed from the former Goodrich Randall 15 IMAX, which closed in 2020.
Based in Michigan, Emagine Entertainment is the ninth largest theater chain in the country, with 29 locations in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The company offers a luxury movie-going experience, with heated luxury recliners, unique concession items, and other amenities that elevate going to the movies above the status quo.
The experience begins with a spacious lobby that has a fireplace, full bar, piano, and a concession stand that offers not only several kinds of popcorn and Coca-Cola Freestyle beverages, you can have a pizza made to order in a brick oven! Every auditorium is equipped with Dolby Digital 7.1-channel surround sound systems (with some capable of Dolby Atmos immersive sound) and heated recliners, with the first row occupied by Emagine's "Cuddle Chairs," which are built for two.
The theater's previous IMAX auditorium is now labeled as their EMX screen, but fans of really big auditoriums will want to watch for the opening of the Super EMX auditorium that was added on to the back of the building. That room is expected to open in the next few weeks, and boasts a 96-foot-wide screen and a 70-channel Dolby Atmos sound system that will be sure to impress!

Grand Opening Events
A charity event and ceremonial ribbon cutting was held Wednesday, May 31, 2023, with Mayor Jeff Schielke, city officials, members of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, and the Batavia United Way. They joined Paul Glantz, Chairman/Co-Founder of Emagine Entertainment, and Anthony LaVerde, CEO of Emagine Entertainment. The sold-out event benefitted the Batavia United Way and guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, drinks, concessions, live entertainment, and the new Brunswick Duckpin Social® bowling lanes in the High Roller room.
In addition to first-run movies playing today, a special showing of Halloween will take place tonight at 7pm. It will feature an appearance by actor James Jude Courtney, who played "Michael Myers" aka "The Shape." A Q&A session will precede that showing.
Showtimes and Tickets
To see what's playing and when, and to buy tickets online, please visit the Showtimes page for the Emagine Batavia.
Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Arcada Theatre and the Classic Cinemas Charlestowne 18 in Saint Charles, as well as the Cinemark Tinseltown USA in North Aurora. The opening of the Emagine Batavia has set a new bar for an enjoyable night at the movies!
