The Carmike Lakeview Square Cinemas in Battle Creek, Michigan will be renovated, and NCG will be taking over operations of the theater, according to an article published recently in the Battle Creek Enquirer:

An extensive renovation and a new ownership group are part of a series of changes coming to the Lakeview Square Mall movie theater.

Barrington, Ill.-based GK Development Inc., who own Lakeview Square Mall, announced Thursday that NCG Cinemas has taken over operations of the mall's theater and will oversee an "extensive renovation" to the theater. The 10-screen theater, which had been operated by Carmike Cinemas, of Columbus, Ga., is expected to undergo a series of facelifts to improve its movie-going experience.

Improvements to the theater are expected to include renovations to the theater's auditoriums, a renovated lobby area and expanded concession options.

The theater will close during the renovations and should reopen in "early spring," according to the article. Its closest competition will be the Goodrich W. Columbia 7 Theater, which is about four miles away. The former Cheap Flicks theater is in the process of being renovated in the hopes of reopening some time in 2016, according to an article we published back in November 2015. That theater is also about four miles away, just down the road from the Goodrich location.

Michigan-based NCG Cinemas operates theaters in Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
