Battle Creek, MI: Movies Returning to the Lakeview Square Mall Under New Management

Posted on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 12:33 PM and updated on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 2:17 PM

Opening Soon sign

When the movie theater in the Lakeview Square Mall in Battle Creek, Michigan closed in January, it ended a 35-year history of being able to go to the movies at the mall. However, that's changing later this month.

The NCG - Battle Creek closed January 6, 2025, which left moviegoers in the area with two movie theaters from which to choose: the JC Cinema on South Helmer Road, and the GQT W. Columbia 7 near the airport. Oddly enough, GQT Movies decided that two theaters in the same city was a good idea, as they are re-opening the mall theater later this month.

The newly-named GQT Lakeview 10 will be opening to the public Friday, April 24, 2026. The combined 17 screens will put pressure on the 7-screen JC Cinema. The advantage of the latter movie theater is in the prices moviegoers will pay for seeing a movie.

The JC Cinema is just $5 for evening shows and $4 for movies playing before 5pm, with a $2 upcharge for 3D showings. The West Columbia 7 charges $9.50 for an adult evening show, with slightly lower prices for matinees and for seniors, children, and members of the military.

Ticket Prices at the GQT Lakeview 10

What will the pricing be at the Lakeview Square movie theater? GQT's website hasn't filled in the pricing sheet for the new theater, but since showtimes are available, we were able to determine the pricing structure for the movies they'll be showing.

Tickets for a 9pm showing of Michael on April 24 at the GQT Lakeview 10 are available for $6 as of the writing of this article. The GQT West Columbia 7 has tickets for the 10pm show on the same evening starting at $9.50 for adults, with discounts that can bring the price down to $7.25. The JC Cinema does not have showtimes for April 24 yet, but tickets for The Mummy at 6:30pm the night before are going for the theater's base price of $5 for everyone.

We considered that the $6 ticket price is a promotion, but we found the same pricing for Mortal Kombat II evening shows on May 13, 2026 (the matinee price was listed as $5). This indicates a pricing strategy to compete with the Moore Theatres location, but two movie theaters operated by the same company showing the same movies for different prices will need to differentiate themselves.

GQT's website shows that the Lakeview 10 has two different seating choices (recliner and rocker). The West Columbia 7 has powered recliners which were installed recently, so perhaps the mall theater will offer less amenities in exchange for a lower ticket price. As far as we know, the JC Cinema does not have powered recliners in any of its auditoriums.

Showtimes

Movies start playing at the GQT Lakeview 10 on April 24, 2026, so to see what's playing and when, please visit the Showtimes page for the GQT Lakeview 10!

Until then, moviegoers in the area will need to continue visiting the other nearby theaters, including the JC Cinema and the GQT W. Columbia 7. If you're missing the NCG experience, or if you found some gift cards in the back of the junk drawer, the closest location operated by that company is the NCG - Coldwater Cinemas in Coldwater, which is about 25 miles from Battle Creek.
