The Village Theaters North in Big Bear Lake, California has closed. Its last day of operation was February 19, 2024, following the death of owner Will Viner.

The following message was posted recently to the theater's website:

1999 - 2024

After 25 years of movies & memories in beautiful Big Bear Lake, the Village Theaters North has closed its doors for the final time.

Will Viner, who owned the movie theater since it opened in 1999, tragically passed away on Friday, Feb. 16th due to complications after surgery. His son, Joe, spent the days evaluating the business and, unfortunately, has made the decision that he is not in a position to keep it operating. So, sadly, Monday, Feb. 19th was our last day for movies in our small town theater. To those who blessed us with your continued patronage, we want to truly thank you for choosing to support our little theater over the years.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Blue Jay Cinema in Blue Jay and the LOOK Dine-in Cinemas - Redlands and Harkins Mountain Grove 16 in Redlands.
