The Birmingham Theatre in Birmingham, Michigan closed November 17, 2020 with the promise that it was a temporary situation. The theater's website contains the following message:

November 17, 2020

Dear Guests,

Once again we must close our doors to you temporarily.  When we open our doors back up, we again assure you that our building will be safe for you to return to.

During this hiatus, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns, as well as any rental inquires for future dates via our website.  And with the upcoming holiday season, gift cards make a great gift!  To purchase one simply go on to our website and click on the Contact link.  From there just let us know that you’d like to purchase a gift card and someone will get back to you within 24 hours for the details.

We will keep you updated on our potential re-open date via our website and through social media, as well as our building marquee out front, which will continue to be lit during the evening hours.  Thank you for your patronage and we look forward to seeing and serving you all again soon!

Sincerely,

The Birmingham Theatre
248-723-6230

Since that time, the theater has posted twice on its Facebook page. Those were posted December 4 and December 14, reminding people to purchase gift cards.

While it's possible that the theater will indeed reopen, the lack of social media updates and no additional recent information on its website leads us to believe that it may not return any time soon.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Emagine Palladium in Birmingham, the MJR Troy Grand Digital Cinema 16 in Troy, and The Maple Theater in Bloomfield Hills.
