The Century Stratford Square in Bloomingdale, Illinois has closed permanently.
Located in the Stratford Square Mall near Gary Avenue and Army Trail Road, the 16-screen theater has been operated by Cinemark since June 2007. The last time we received updates from the theater was January 1, 2021. We could not find any information about the theater's closure, except that Cinemark's website lists the location as "permanently closed."
The history of the theater is incomplete. According to our records, it opened in 1981 as the Stratford Square 1-2-3-4 or Stratford Square Mall 4. We believe it then opened December 16, 1983 as the CO Stratford Square (possibly with 4 new screens, for a total of 8). According to the CinemaTreasures website, the theater had four screens on each of two levels.
If you have any information about the theater's history, why the theater closed, or can refer us to news coverage, please leave a comment below!
