The Silverspot Cinema at The Corners of Brookfield in Brookfield, Wisconsin opened in July 2019, but it won't make its sixth anniversary.
Located on Market Street in The Corners of Brookfield shopping center along I-94, the nine-screen luxury-oriented movie theater is operated by Silverspot Cinema. It will be showing its last movies on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
According to the press release issued by The Corners of Brookfield, "The Corners and Silverspot Cinema have mutually agreed to conclude Silverspot’s lease. The theater will officially close on June 16, 2025, with plans to repurpose the space beginning in the second half of the year."
The press release also includes the following:
“Working with Silverspot over the years has been a pleasure,” said Gould. “This was not an easy decision, but one made thoughtfully and collaboratively in the best interest of our customer. The movie industry continues to face headwinds, and this transition allows both The Corners and Silverspot to pursue new opportunities. Reinventing the Silverspot space is a bold initiative and substantial investment, which underlines our ongoing commitment to curating a tenant mix that is dynamic and best serves our customers. We are grateful to Silverspot for bringing a premium cinema experience to the Town of Brookfield and for their partnership throughout this process.”
Silverspot CEO Gonzalo Ulivi added, “We’re proud of what we brought to The Corners and the Town of Brookfield over the past five years. Our team is grateful to our loyal guests and to our partners at The Corners for their support. While it’s always difficult to leave a market, this mutual decision reflects the changes and opportunities both sides see ahead. We wish The Corners continued success in its next chapter.”
If you have gift cards for the theater, or rewards points in the company's Spot Rewards program, the theater's website says that they should be redeemed before June 15 at this location. Gift cards and rewards points can be redeemed at other locations, according to the website's frequently asked questions section.
Opened in 2019
When it opened, the Silverspot Cinema delivered a higher-end experience than a traditional movie theater, with heated reclining leather seats that had a table for holding chef-crafted food items and bar-level drinks. However, many theaters now have heated reclining seats, and some also have tray tables with dining and food service available. In fact, the Movie Tavern at Brookfield Square opened less than five miles to the east with similar amenities a few months after the Silverspot. Another Marcus Theatres location, the Marcus Majestic Cinema of Brookfield, is less than two miles to the west, and has been attracting audiences since 2007.
That sandwich proximity wasn't the only factor that created a problem for the movie theater at The Corners. This is Silverspot's only location in Wisconsin and with 20 locations in Wisconsin and nearly 80 across the nation, Marcus Theatres is a much more dominant player. Both nearby Marcus Theatres locations boast premium UltraScreen and SuperScreen auditoriums, which have screens that measure up to 72 feet wide. When this location closes, Silverspot Cinema will have just five locations nationwide.
What's Happening to the Theater Space?
The press release mentions that the space will be redeveloped into retail establishments. The Everveve women's clothing store will relocate to a larger space on Market Street, so it may be inheriting some or all of the theater's square footage.
The view along Market Street will be changing when the Silverspot Cinema closes in June 2025
The Corners of Brookfield is dominated by retail shopping and restaurants, with more retail spaces and luxury apartments being added in an adjacent parcel. It's unfortunate that a movie theater wasn't allowed to be part of the mix that its owners intend for the area.
Showtimes and Tickets
The good news is that the Silverspot Cinema won't be closing until June and that it announced that all tickets are just $9. Tickets on Mondays are $6.

Once it closes in June, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the aforementioned Marcus Majestic Cinema of Brookfield and the Movie Tavern - Brookfield Square.
