The Regal UA Court Street & RPX in Brooklyn, New York has closed.

Located on Court Street and State Street, the twelve screen movie theater originally opened in 2000. Based on the comments we found on social media, the theater had a bit of a raucous reputation, with fights breaking out, patrons shouting at the screen, etc. Some theaters have character, and some theaters have characters...

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Cobble Hill Cinemas and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - Downtown Brooklyn in Brooklyn. The closest Regal locations are the Regal Essex Crossing & RPX and Regal Battery Park (both are across the East River).

The theater's closing came as a surprise to customers, but apparently Regal was not. In several news stories (see list below), they cite problems with negotiating terms with the landlord.
