Sunday's episode of CBS Sunday Morning featured a segment with correspondent Tracy Smith talking to theater industry experts about the prospects of movie theaters in a post-pandemic marketplace.

When theaters like the iconic ArcLight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, California close, does it mean doom and gloom for movie theaters everywhere? Or is it just yet another adjustment in the marketplace that movie theaters have had to make in response to challenges.

Whether it's conversion to talking pictures or taking on the challenge of television or the conversion to digital cinema, movie theaters have proven resilient. But they can only be resilient if the movie-going audience is willing to support them.

As Academy Award winner Frances McDormand said on Sunday's night's Oscar ceremony when Nomadland won Best Picture:

Please watch our movie on the largest screen possible. And one day, very very soon, take everyone you know into a theater, shoulder to shoulder in that dark space, and watch every film that's represented here tonight.

As more and more movie theaters reopen across the country, we finally can go back to watching movies on the big screen again!

Head over to the All Movies page for a list of every movie playing in theaters across the country!
