The Goodrich Cadillac 4 in Cadillac, Michigan, like most other movie theaters in the state and country, closed in March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic that has swept the world. While we expect that many movie theaters will reopen as the "stay at home" orders are lifted around the country, some will not, and the Goodrich Cadillac 4 appears to be in the latter category.

An article published recently by 9 & 10 News says that the theater is closing its doors permanently:

The Cadillac 4 movie theater recently announced it will be closing its doors permanently.

In February the Cadillac 4, owned by Goodrich Quality Theaters, applied for bankruptcy.

They had hopes of getting back on their feet, but then the COVID-19 crisis swept in.

The extended closures are hitting movie theaters hard, and small operations are taking it even harder. Often with a limited number of screens and independently operated, they don't have the big budgets to absorb extended periods of time without any revenue. The Cadillac movie theater is part of the Goodrich Quality Theaters, Inc. chain, which has (had) 30 locations in several states, but the theater's fate wasn't helped by the fact that Goodrich Quality Theaters filed for bankruptcy just before the pandemic-forced closures began.

The location seems like it would be good for another operator to come in, so there may be some hope for area moviegoers yet. The nearest movie theaters are more than 35 miles away in Houghton Lake and Traverse City, so there could be room for someone to come in to run a small four-screen theater successfully. A recent article in the Cadillac News (see list below) mentions that Michigan-based Emagine Entertainment would be a nice home-state choice, but its theaters tend to be larger than four screens.
