The Paragon Parkside + Xtreme in Cary, North Carolina is opening to the public December 16, 2021.

Located in the Parkside Town Commons shopping center on NC-55 and the Triangle Expressway, the theater has completed renovations that include zero-gravity powered reclining seats in VIP areas called Lux Boxes in each auditorium, and a kitchen and bar that serve food items and adult beverages. A premium "Extreme Theater" features a Dolby Atmos immersive sound system.

In addition to showing movies, the location also has an arcade and a bowling alley called Penny Lanes Bowl & Games, which has stayed open during the renovations.

The theater was previously known as the Frank Theatres CineBowl & Grille, which closed in 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic shut theaters around the country. Frank Theatres had filed for bankruptcy in 2018 which caused many of its locations to be shuttered or sold off.

Paragon Theaters operates seven locations, including the Paragon Sandhills in Southern Pines and is going to be adding another Cary location in the Fenton development on Cary Towne Boulevard and Trinity Road.

Until now, moviegoers in the area have been visiting one of the other nearby theaters, including the AMC Southpoint 17 in Durham and the B & B Park West 14 Cinemas in Morrisville.
