The Ceres Cruise-In in Ceres, California opened September 25, 2020. Located on Whitmore Avenue just west of the Golden State Highway, the theater was previously known as the Ceres Drive-In, which closed after the 2007 season.

The Modesto Bee published an article recently about the theater's reopening, and interviewed Mark Stotzer about why he reopened the theater:

“I have kids and there’s really been nothing around here to do with them right now,” said Stotzer, who owns MS Production Services and Lucky Shoe Productions. “I had been looking at alternate sites to put something together and then remembered there used to be a drive-in in Ceres. So I went down there, located the owners, toured the property. It wasn’t in the best shape, but the bones were still there. So we said let’s do it.”

Its 100-foot wide screen is going to be much larger than any of the pop-up drive-ins that have become very popular with the shutdown of many traditional movie theaters due to the coronavirus pandemic. Pop-ups with video screens typically have screens that measure about 40-50 feet wide, so this should provide more people with great viewing of the movies!

The theater originally opened in 1948, and when it closed in 2007, it had two screens. It appears that only one of those screens is operational at this time.

We're working on getting their showtimes on our site, so please visit the Showtimes page for the Ceres Cruise-In for updates. Until then, we have links to their website and social media on the theater's Related Sites page.
