'Opening Soon' sign

The former Satellite Cinemas Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach, Florida hasn't shown movies since it shut down in March 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the ten-screen movie theater is hoping to reopen in early 2024 as the Sun-Ray Cinema @ Ocean Walk.

The news was announced in late November by Sun-Ray Cinemas, which also operates the Sun-Ray Cinema @ 5 Points in Jacksonville:

Sun-Ray finally lands a second spot in Daytona Beach?

We were gonna wait a few more weeks to announce this but the property owner announced our plans in the local press yesterday so thought we'd let you all know.

We started working on this spot in March or April of 2019 and were almost there in early 2020 but then plague. It's a ten screen built in 2002 and was renovated in 2016. Nice stadium risers, reclining seats...All the bells and & whistles one experiences at a multiplex but it will include our menu served seat side and more varied programming. Jacksonville artist Jason Wright has signed up to create a very unique experience in our lobby that we will keep under wraps for now. This place is right on the beach with gorgeous views of the ocean from the lobby It's nuts. Oh, there are private baby rooms too! Parking is avail in a garage across the street and will be free to our patrons.

Perhaps, once we get this up off the ground we will look more attractive to Jacksonville developers and we will find one that will see the benefit of adding a Sun-Ray to the Beaches, Mandarin or maybe even Gateway Jax.

We wanna stress our two screen in 5 Points is not going anywhere. We gotta great crew here that will continue to serve you as you've come to expect led by Nick Patterson, Pam Robie (who is sadly moving to Jersey) , Ryan Reed in our kitchen and the rest of our swell crew.

We expect to get this off the ground in early 2024.

The company also operates the Sun-Ray's Drive-In in Jacksonville, which is closing at the end of December.

The movie theater originally opened in 2002 as the R/C Ocean Walk 10. It was acquired by Paragon Entertainment in May 2012 and became known as the Paragon Ocean Walk 10, which closed August 31, 2018. Satellite Cinemas reopened the theater in October 2018 as the Satellite Cinemas Ocean Walk. That's quite the ownership history in just 21 years!

Until it opens, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the CMX Daytona 12 in Daytona Beach and the Regal Pavilion & RPX in Port Orange.
