Death on the Nile and Free Guy are the latest movies to see their release dates changed or removed altogether. Both movies are from 20th Century Studios and were expected to open December 18 and 11, respectively. Neither have new release dates scheduled yet.
Death on the Nile is the follow-up to 2017's Murder on the Orient Express, with Kenneth Branagh returning to direct and star as Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot. His Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this tale of unbridled passion and incapacitating jealousy features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers, and enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final denouement.
If there is any good news, it's that we do have some photos and videos that you can see to take some of the sting of not being able to see an Agatha Christie novel brought to life on the big screen this holiday season.
Taking itself ever so slightly less seriously, Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds as a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, and decides to become the hero of his own story...one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way... before it is too late.
The fate of both movies are uncertain at this time, so it's logical to wonder if they will end up going to premium video on demand (PVOD) or a streaming service instead of waiting for more theaters to reopen around the country. When we find out, we'll let you know, so be sure to add the movies to your Favorite Movies list to keep up with the latest updates!
