The Kingsway 4 Cinema in Eden, North Carolina has closed.

According to a post on the theater's Facebook page, the theater's last day was May 29, 2022:

Kingsway 4 reopened 13 years ago, and we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support they have shown us. We feel like our customers are family. It is because of all of you that we have been able to stay open for so long. That makes this announcement that much more difficult. Effective May 29, the Kingsway 4 will be closing. This is not our choice. After multiple attempts to speak with the landlord of Kingsway Shopping Center, no agreement has been able to be made for a new contract. So, the decision was made for us to close at the end of our current contract. We hope that everyone will continue to support us at the Eden Drive In. We love each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of this great journey!

We are sorry for waiting so long to make this announcement, but we were holding out hope that a deal could be reached until the last minute.

The four-screen movie theater was located in the Kingsway Shopping Center at 220 W. Kings Highway, between US Highway 311 and the Smith River. According to our records, it was previously known as the Carmike Kingsway 4, which closed in 2008. The current owners reopened the theater in 2009.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Eden Drive-In in Eden, the Movie Town Theatre in Martinsville, Virginia, and the Hollywood Cinema in Martinsville, Virginia.
