The ICON Cinema - Edmond in Edmond, Oklahoma is now open to the public and showing movies.
Located on Danforth Road and N. Bryant Avenue, the movie theater originally opened in 1988 as the Kickingbird Cinema, a six-screen theater. It became part of the Regal Cinemas chain in 1994, and two screens were added in 1995. Regal closed the location on January 30, 2001. It re-opened February 1, 2001 as the independently owned Kickingbird Cinema. aka Kickingbird Theaters. It was known as the Kickingbird Cinema when it closed in 2020. The photo above was taken in the summer of 2021.
Icon Cinemas recently opened the ICON Cinema - Oklahoma City in January 2023 (read the article), and also operates movie theaters in Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.

Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the ShowBiz Cinemas - Edmond in Edmond and the AMC Quail Springs Mall 24 in Oklahoma City.
