The Main Street Theatres - ACX Cinema 12+ in Elkhorn, Nebraska has opened to the public. Located about sixteen miles west of Omaha, the twelve-screen theater will have just two of those screens open for now because there aren't enough new movies, according to an interview owner Bill Barstow by 3 News Now:

“This isn’t what it’s going to be, it’s just a little taste to show people that, 'You know what, we persevered and we’re going to continue to stay open and we’re going to roll this until the pandemic clears,'" Barstow said. "But it’s going to be a long road, theaters took a beating.”

Barstow is the head of Main Street Theatres, Inc., which operates the theater. The company also operates the Main Street Theatres - Aksarben Cinema in Omaha and the Main Street Theatres - Pioneer 3 in Nebraska City, as well as several locations in Iowa.

He also mentions that the new theater adheres to the industry's CinemaSafe protocols that were announced earlier this year to address concerns about health safety in movie theaters.

In addition to watching movies on the big screen, the Backlot Pizza + Kitchen located inside offers a variety of pizza, pasta, burgers, and more. A bar offers cocktails as well as appetizers, such as chicken wings, shrimp flatbread, and others.

Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to attend other nearby theaters, including the Marcus Village Pointe Cinema, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - La Vista, and the Westwood Cinema 8.
