Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer movie release season, and with it, an expected decrease in movie theater attendance. The National Association of Theater Owners (NATO), a movie theater industry association, wants to change that by offering moviegoers discounted admission to more than 3,000 participating movie theaters across the United States on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

Designated "National Cinema Day" in the promotions, movies will be showing on more than 30,000 screens for the low price of just $3.00 per ticket. That applies to all movies, in all formats, and all day (at participating locations, of course)!

The promotion is being coordinated by NATO's The Cinema Foundation, which was formed earlier this year. According to a press release by the organization, it is "dedicated to shaping the future of the great collective experience of moviegoing and the cinema industry."

“After this summer’s record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing,” said Cinema Foundation president Jackie Brenneman. “We’re doing it by offering a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet.”

How to Purchase $3 Movie Tickets

If everything goes according to plan, this will put a lot of people in seats on Saturday, so we highly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance!

To purchase tickets, just head over to the Nearby Theaters page to find showtimes at a theater near you, or you can start by finding a movie you want to see and find out where and when it's playing. Select a showtime, verify the pricing, and reserve your seats!
