Plans are in the works for the Regal Cinemas Falmouth 10 in Falmouth, Maine to be replaced by the expansion of the WalMart next door.
The first news we could find was from December 4, 2010, when the Portland Press Herald reported that WalMart confirmed its plans for expansion. Their plan had to be approved by the Town Council, which was considering zoning changes to limit the size of buildings in Falmouth. On January 12, 2011, those plans were given the green light by the Town Council, and the most recent news came today from The Forecaster that WalMart has presented their plans to the Planning Board at a meeting held last night.
The plans are in the initial stages, and Regal has not commented on the future of the theater, so there is no announced closure date for the theater. If the plans fall through, it's quite possible that the theater will continue operating as always.
