When the 112 Drive In Theatre Closed in August 2022, it ended the ability for people in Fayetteville, Arkansas to watch movies under the stars. The next closest drive-in is the Sunset Drive-In in Aurora, Missouri, which is almost 70 miles away and not really a viable option.

That's why moviegoers in the area will be happy to hear that the 112 Drive In will be reborn in 2024, when the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema + Drive-In - Fayetteville is expected to open!

It appears that the drive in and associated structures will be removed, and a new movie theater building and a drive-in screen will be located on the south end of the property. They will be part of a acre mixed-use development called "The Aronson," which will have residential units and commercial buildings.

There will be a single drive-in screen and the indoor theater will have eight auditoriums that seat nearly 800 people in luxurious recliners with food and drink service that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations are known for. All auditoriums will have 4K Digital Cinema projection systems with HFR capability and 7.1 channel Dolby surround sound. One auditorium will be Alamo's "The Big Show," offering a premium experience with Dolby Atmos immersive sound and 70mm projection capability.

“Our mission at Alamo Drafthouse is to preserve, celebrate, and innovate the cinema experience,” says Alamo Drafthouse CEO Shelli Taylor. “Drive-in theaters deeply influenced the Alamo Drafthouse preshow, programming, and design from the very beginning, but we have never managed to incorporate a permanent drive-in into any of our theaters. We are beyond excited to launch the first Alamo drive-in screen in Fayetteville!”

The movie theater will feature a standalone bar and outdoor beer garden, which will have a view of the drive-in screen. The bar will offer "dozens of beers on tap," including local brews.

This is the first drive-in for Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and its first Arkansas location as well. The company has more than three dozen locations across the country. The company is well-known for combining movies and dining, as well as special themed events, all while enforcing a no-texting, no-talking policy to minimize disruptions during the movie.

The new theater isn't expected to open until 2024, so until then, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Malco Razorback Cinema and the AMC Fiesta Square 16.
