The Lake 5 Theatre in Forest Lake, Minnesota has closed. The last movies illuminated the theater's five screens on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

Located just under 30 miles northeast of downtown Minneapolis on Lake Street S (Highway 61), the independent movie theater posted the following message on its Facebook page:

We are sad to announce that we will be closing permanently beginning Monday, Nov. 22nd. We have operated Lake 5 Theatre since June of 2006 and since then have shown over 1,200 films and welcomed over 1,000,000 guests through the doors. We have enjoyed every minute of it (well, except a few times when films started on fire or when we discovered someone sleeping under one of the screens or maybe a few other moments too  ) So while the credits have ended and the curtains are closing for us we want you to know that we truly, deeply, appreciate the support we have received over the last 15+ years. So for that, thank you!

We're not sure when the theater originally opened, but their Facebook post does mention that they have been operating it since June 2006.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Emagine White Bear in White Bear Township, the Emagine East Bethel in East Bethel, and the AMC Classic Mounds View 15 in Mounds View.
