Brian Schultz, founder of the Studio Movie Grill theater chain, has started a new movie theater chain that also offers moviegoers an in-theater dining experience. LOOK Cinemas (aka LOOK Dine-in Cinemas) has two locations open, is opening three California locations this month, and is planning additional locations opening later this year or next.

Schultz stepped down as CEO of Studio Movie Grill after the company filed for bankruptcy in October 2020. (We're not sure on the exact timing) The incorporation papers for LOOK Brands LLC were registered March 24, 2021.

Industry website Deadline interviewed Schultz, which appeared in a recent article:

“I am honored to have the opportunity to provide three more California communities with jobs that pay fair wages, and a space for each neighborhood to come together for great cinema experiences,” said Schultz in a statement. “I firmly believe in the magic of going to the theater so I hope that after a year of isolation that we start to see more and more communities going back to the movies.”

Looking over the available materials, it's difficult to tell the difference between the services of LOOK Cinemas and Studio Movie Grill. Perhaps that is intentional, and LOOK Cinemas is a continuation of what Schultz started at his first dinner-and-a-movie operation. Some of its locations were former Studio Movie Grill locations, so the connection is very strong for the company, and guests are likely to see similarities.

Two locations are already open, with three more opening this month. Additional locations are planned for Florida, New York, and Texas, so it certainly seems that they aim to make a name for themselves across the country.
