Four Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas locations in Texas closed recently, but moviegoers won't have long to wait before they reopen under the management of Flix Brewhouse.

The four locations are in Houston, East El Paso, and Lubbock and were operated by Triple Tap Ventures as a franchise partner to Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The website for Alamo Drafthouse Cinema now displays a message that announces the closure of the movie theaters and provides information about ticket refunds.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Locations Closed

Texas-based Flix Brewhouse advertises itself as "the world’s only first-run cinema brewery" and has 11 locations across the country, including five in Texas. Whereas the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is synonymous with the combination of watching movies and in-theater dining, Flix Brewhouse will be taking that concept to the next level with in-house craft beer selections.

"As the industry continues to evolve, Flix Brewhouse remains focused on thoughtful, strategic growth and delivering a distinctly different experience for moviegoers," said Robertson. "The path forward in exhibition isn’t one size fits all. Innovation at Flix means staying true to what sets us apart: our craft and constant drive to raise the bar on quality, service, and community."

The press release from Flix Brewhouse mentions that the locations will open February 23, 2026. It also mentions that moviegoers can expect the following amenities:

  • premium presentations
  • seat-side hospitality
  • full menu and award-winning craft beer
  • mobile ordering and payment
